Medication Management as a Service

Treatment

Medication management is the level of outpatient treatment where the sole service rendered is by a qualified physician.

Management may also be administered by others whose scope of practice includes prescribing medication in the initial evaluation of the patient’s need for medications, the provision of a prescription, and as-needed, ongoing medical monitoring/evaluation related to the patient’s use of the medication.

Interactive medications are not being rendered at this time by the primary care provider, but may be provided by another clinician.

Service Expectations

Medical evaluation.

Medication monitoring routinely and as needed.

Client education pertaining to the medication to support the individual in making an informed decision for its use.

The service provider must make a good faith attempt to coordinate care with the individual’s primary medical provider.
